What this means is that you can set pricing for different combinations of package and service types based simply on the distance between them. For example, you can set a range to be from 0 miles to 10 miles, and within this range you can set the minimum price for a delivery in this range, a base price (what the price would be without any additional miles in the range), and a price per mile, which would make the price increment by that amount for every additional mile within the range. Even just in one range, you can change these price options for every combination of package and service type, so if you have three of each, you can set nine different groups of pricing, just for one range! This is great if you want to charge more per mile for a larger package type, or set a greater minimum price for a quicker service type, or other ideas like that.

Additional Distance Options

After you have established some basic guidelines for your distance based lists, you can get as granular and specific as you would like with them! For example, your ranges can truly be anything. You could set a range to just have a one mile difference, or have one span 100 miles! These also don’t have to be whole numbers, so you could make a distance list from 13.4 miles to 20.6 miles if you want, perhaps to cover the extremities of your city, but no further. These ranges can go all the way to an infinite number, if you want to create a final price range for the farthest out deliveries. You can also decide whether you want to price by distance a car travels or price by air distance, which is to say how far the places are from each other if you could fly directly from one to the other. Again, all of these options are completely customizable and up to you and your team to use how you see fit. You can have dozens of distance ranges, each only a half a mile different, and have completely different price structures for all your different package and service combos, or you can enlist a couple large ranges that are one size fits all. However your business works best, you can do it!

If you have also created a zone pricing set, based on area or certain cities and zip codes, you can apply that to your distance lists as well, combining the two together to get a highly specific price for anywhere you desire!
